Trinity Catholic Academy Receives
President’s Award from Stonehill College

On May 29th, Stonehill College President Mark T. Cregan, C.S.C., honored Trinity Catholic Academy in Brockton with one of Stonehill’s 2009 President’s Awards. Trinity Catholic Academy opened in September 2007 with an enrollment of 525 students. The school represents a new model of Catholic education, which includes updated curriculum, new arts programs, strong teacher professional development and lay governance. $12 million in private philanthropy was raised to establish this school. Stonehill College and Fr. Cregan have been important participants in the success of Trinity Catholic Academy, where most students perform above grade level on standardized tests and half perform two grade levels above.

Brockton resident Sara Gagnon, a seventh-grader at Trinity Catholic Academy, recently accepted Stonehill’s President’s Award for Excellence on behalf of her school at the 49th annual President’s Dinner.

Part of the Archdiocese of Boston’s program designed to reorganize schools, Trinity Catholic is overseen by a board of directors chaired by Stonehill alumnus Matt George and Anthony Luizzi, regional director of the board.

The two accompanied Gagnon at the dinner.

One of Stonehill’s highest honors, the President’s Award for Excellence is presented to individuals and organizations that have made unique and outstanding contributions to public life, business, and the arts and sciences.
