Dear Parents,As you know, the Board of Trustees appointed me as the Regional Director for the Trinity Catholic Academy along with Mr. Manthala George, Jr, as the President of the Regional Board. Together we have been working with Principals Labouliere and Holm to prepare the Trinity Catholic Academy for opening day on September 10, 2007. I would like to report on the focus and goals of the school, and also share with you some updates on the progress of the new school.
First and foremost, the challenge has been to take three separate schools and create one unified and cohesive school system. We realize that the recent changes have not been easy for students, parents, or professional staff. We are sensitive and mindful of that aspect as we move forward. However, all of us must move forward to create a school that will be known for its high standards and high expectations for principals, teachers, support staff, and students.
Both Mr. George and I believe that all students can reach high academic expectations, that all students will be successful and that all students will be prepared to attend the high school of their choosing. The well-researched and critical hallmarks of a successful school are as follows: high standards; high expectations; a curriculum that is aligned; students and teachers who are focused and on task; schools that are safe; and finally, schools that have excellent discipline and are well organized. This is our mission and our commitment.
We are dedicated to provide everything that is necessary FOR YOUR CHILD TO BE SUCCESSFUL at the Trinity Catholic Academy.
In other matters, Mr. George and I have maintained a close relationship with the construction supervisors and they believe that both campuses will be ready by the last week in August. A tour that was taken on Friday, August 3, disclosed that the workers are on schedule.
We have an excellent team of staff members who are working with the principals to align the curriculum and to develop a time allotment schedule that focuses very heavily upon math, reading, and language arts. These are the core subjects that all students need in order to excel. We have increased the amount of time that students will be engaged in these core subjects. We will also be employing a math/science resource person and a reading/language arts resource person. These two educators will help teachers and principals focus upon the levels and needs of all students. Science and technology labs will be introduced and will be supportive of the core curriculum. Students will be challenged to reach their potential in all areas of the curriculum. If students need remedial help, they will receive it immediately and if students need to be further challenged, enrichment will be provided.
At the present time, enrollment at the school is increasing. We will be adding classrooms as they are needed so that small class sizes are maintained. As of now, we have two classrooms at each grade level, with grades two and three having three classes. Also, it appears that we may be adding another pre-school classroom.
Almost all of the faculty members have been hired. We are being very deliberate in hiring the very best teachers that we can recruit. This week, we secured a computer technology teacher, an art teacher, and a physical education teacher. In addition, we are interviewing candidates for general music. Further, we are planning to offer instrumental music to students from grades 4-8. We anticipate the formation of a school band that will perform with other area school bands. In addition, we plan to provide an opportunity for boys and girls to participate on competitive athletic teams.
An extended day program is in place and will be serving students beginning on the first day of school, September 10, 2007. Our new web page, www.trinitycatholicacademybrockton.org is up and running. Each day we are generating more and more information for that web page.
Mr. George and I are excited about Trinity Catholic Academy and we are taking the very best practices from the three schools and working hard to consolidate the three programs into one strong academic program which will meet the needs of your children and our students. This school will be a safe and happy place where your children will be instructed in their Catholic faith, will be academically successful and will continue to develop into responsible citizens.
We look forward to this new challenge and invite you to work with us to make the Trinity Catholic Academy into an outstanding Pre-K-8 school.
Sincerely,
Anthony Luizzi
