Lower Campus: Grades 1-3

Our curriculum for grades 1-3 incorporates hands-on learning for students at all grade levels. Instruction provided by our quality professional staff encourages a supportive and challenging environment to allow for maximum student achievement.

 

Grade 1

  • Pre and post-testing in areas of ELA and Math
  • Technology to introduce reading and math content areas
  • Immersion in all basic beliefs of Catholic faith
  • Appropriate social skills and strong moral values through stories, project and role-playing
  • Knowledge and hands-on activities in areas of social studies and science
  • Enrichment in art, music, physical education, library and technology skills

 

Grade 2

  • Weekly assessments to ensure progress
  • Emphasis on the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion in our religion curriculum
  • Enhanced technology in the classroom for all subjects
  • Cross-curricular activities for growth in reading, social studies, math, science and religion
  • Differentiated instruction through small group and whole group lessons to enhance student learning
  • Enrichment in art, music, physical education, library and technology skills

 

Grade 3

  • Small group instruction to engage in collaborative conversation
  • Building knowledge of informational, narrative and expository text
  • Using a variety of graphic maps and organizers to apply reading strategies
  • Differentiated reading instruction integrated in leveled reading activities
  • Unit or topic weekly assessments
  • Math strategies for place value, money, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
  • Science vocabulary and skills in experimental activities
  • Research skills in technology to grow in all areas
  • Cross-curricular activities for growth in reading, social studies, math, science and religion
  • Cursive penmanship and writing skills instruction
